Fall Break: Provo Canyon

For Fall Break, we went to Provo Canyon with our bikes and spent a couple days.  The first day we went rode our bikes down the bike trail to BYU where we came across some fun Homecoming Activities and then met Megan at the Cannon Center for lunch.  Kyle rode Tyson's three wheeler the whole 8 miles.  It was hilarious to see his big body on that little bike.  He did finish what he started :)

Dimple Dell Trail

Tyson loves taking Goose to the dog park.  Last time we were there, we noticed a revine.  We followed a path and found the dimple trail trail at the bottom.  We spent 2 and 1/2 hours walking the trail and I figure Tyse walked 15+ blocks.  It was so beautiful.  It was in the middle of the city, but you felt like you were secluded getaway.  It was beautiful!

And the winner is....

Not the best picture, but this photo shows the pumpkin that I won at Hee Haw Farms in the "Mom's competition" Pig Chase.  Yes, I chased, wrestled, caught, picked up and ultimately kissed the pig.  Left a bit smelley, but I did it!   Tyson, Lindsey and BonnieJean can verify!  Proud, yes, I am quite proud!

Fall Leaves

We took a drive up the canyon to see the beautiful leaves.  Traditionally be go to the Brighton Boardwalk, but as we got a few miles from our destination, the temperature dropped dramatically and we could see snow.  The kids got out and walked through the snow for a few minutes, but it was cold.  We drove back down Big Cottonwood and found some beautiful scenic spots!

Cousin Pedicures

Lindsey and Addie got a celebratory pedicure!  They loved it!

The Life of Leisure (for Tyse anyway)

While cleaning the garage, we found an old swing of Tyson's.  Kyle rigged it up to the ceiling and Tyson swung the day away.  We found him there again the next morning and he swung and swung until it finally pulled out of the ceiling.

Mom of the Day!

I have not officially received the Mom of the Day award from any prestigious organization, but every once in a while I bequeath it to myself.   Today was one of those days.  Lindsey had a day off of school, so we got ready and went down to BYU to have lunch with Megan at the Cannon Center.  Lindsey was in Heaven!  She ate and ate and ate and enjoyed her favorite food group - sugary sweets - in mass amounts.  After, the 3 of us took a look at the newly remodeled Bean Museum.  We had fun exploring and looking for the blue footed boobie and looking at all of President Packers art work (quite impressive).  After dropping Megan off for her next class, we picked up Tyson and headed to the West Jordan Wild West Playground where we explored every nook and cranny.  We got home just in time to drop Lindsey off for a party and take Tyse to a special needs carnival.   Tyse did all the rotations but was very weary of the face painting.  I finally talked him through it, after several attempts, and showed him how it was done.   He got the courage he needed and got his first drawing.  He decided it was fun and went from pretty girl to pretty girl to get additional paintings done.  When we left he had one on each leg, 3 on each arm and two on his face.  He, of course, was the first one there and the last to leave!

Finding the perfect basketball shoes!

Kyle spent hours researching basketball shoes on the internet.  He would come home from school and search and look and compare.  Finally he found the right ones and ordered them online.  Today they came after much anticipation.  We hope, just like when he was a little boy, that these shoes will help him run faster and jump higher and give him super performance powers!

Horseback Riding

Tyson is doing riding at Courage Reins again this fall.  He loves it and is often patting his head (helmet) to let me know that he is wanting to ride.  We go every other Tuesday after school.  I pick him up and we go to the park or out for a snack and then go to riding together.  This has proven to be his "special thing"... his favorite extracurricular activity!

A Nod to Oz : Thanksgiving Point Farm

We joined Mom for a fun family night adventure at the Thanksgiving point farm.  The theme was the wizard of oz and they had the farm decorated like the emerald city with a yellowbrick road that took you around the farm.  Thanks to Mom for sharing with her fantastic pass with us!

Going Away Party for Sammie!

We had Cox's dog Sammie for 2 1/2 months while they were waiting for her to be admitted to the state of Hawaii.  We took Sammie and Goose to the dog park as a going away activity the day before she was to go to the airport.  The dogs and Tyson loved being there and interacting with other dogs.  Sammie was a chewer, runner and a digger initially, but she calmed down in time and was so good to Tyson.  He loved her and would wake up every morning to go play with her.  She was a good friend to Goose too.  They will both miss her!
