Let's Go Fly a Kite...

Lindsey picked out a kite for everyone and we went to the park to try them out. The wind was a little strong and unpredictable. We had fun trying!

First Family Bike Ride...

...that is, with everyone riding independently. Tyson got a new bike that he can do independantly and can go faster than a traditional trike. Our first ride only took us 1/2 hour to go a couple of blocks to the Draper HIstorical Park, but we have hope that practice will make perfect...or at least better. At first he was timid and a little nervous, but now we wish he would stay with us. He is busy exploring the world...not necessarily in the safest way.

Macy and Tyson

Tyson has his favorite people. I sometimes think that he has the ability to really see the heart of a person and that maybe the veil isn't as thin for him as for us. He has people that he loves and I wonder if maybe he remembers them from Heaven. I like to think that they were special friends before now and, although they can't remember, they are watching out for him. He has his favorites. Macy is one. He loves her and she is so good to watch out for him. Thanks Mace!

Drama Camp

For the last couple of years, Megan and Mackenzie have headed up a "drama camp" for the neighborhood kids to sign up and participate in. This year, they did a disney theme. Addison came to sleep over and went to a practice and decided to continue through to the end. I think Lindsey and Addi had fun singing and dancing on stage. And I might add, the directing was phenominal.

Out of the Box...

or rather inside of the box. Tyse and Lindsey both love to make beds out of boxes and laundry baskets. Apparently it is more fun to snuggle up inside of a box than on the floor or the couch.

Fun with Family

We met up with Kris and Anna and their kids for fun at the Gateway Discovery Museum. After the kids were done exploring we ran through torrents of rain to the food court for Panda Express and Subway. Kyle and Lindsey went back to the hotel with Kris to swim while Macy, Meg and I drove down to pick up Tyse from school and then joined them for a fun swim at the Little America! We all had a great time!

Bruce and Brians Birthday party

On August 16 was my dad's and Brian's birthdays. We had the Gwilliam's over to celebrate! It was really fun to see everyone. We had Grandma's YUMMY chocolate cake, played volleyball, and just enjoyed talking to each other! I was really fun! Can't wait to see everyone again at grandma's and grandpa's for christmas! Right? ;)

Happy Birthday Lindsey

Lindsey is 6. She has been counting down to Aug. 17 for far too long. This year we had a "breakfast party" but did it at night so that Bruce could come. We played pin the bacon on the plate, ate donuts off strings, did an egg relay, ate a full course breakfast and played in our PJ's.

Our Day with the Bacons...

We disembarked the ship in Seward and took a bus towards Anchorage. We didn't have to catch our flight for 10 hours so wW had the bus drop us off in Girtwood to hook up with Stephanie and Erik for the day. Our first stop was a hike near the Girtwood ski resort. It was raining, but when in Alaska, you just put on your gear and press on. It was amazing. We hiked through lucious green forest and eventually came to a beautiful river and then to a hand tram that took us across the river probably 300 feet above ground! I love the hike and had a great tour guide!

Hubbard Glacier

These pictures don't really do it justice. The glacier was very active - kaving it was called when part of the glacier would slide down into the water. It was happening constantly while we were watching. We got within about a mile of the glacier and watched nature in action.

Ship Views

This surely isn't something you see everyday!

Skagway, Alaska

We went on a hike. Bruce chose the path to Reid Falls. It was a grueling start - a huge incline. We made it to the first lake, but then pretty much worked our way through the forest on what we think were trails. We aren't sure we got to our destination, but did find a beautiful river and decided to call it "the falls". We took another loop on the way down and followed a beautiful stream to a couple of lakes. It was once again BEAUTIFUL.
